ABOUT AutoCAD

AutoCAD is a software tool which support semi para metric approach for the purpose of drafting or design and also it is a focused on geometry  depended software suite.

Before telling anything about AutoCAD one should know few things about the some personalities named MIKE RIDDLE, John Walker and Dan Drake.

MIKE RIDDLE was born in California (area of computers).  In his senior secondary school he built his own computer. It didn't work well but it becomes his first step in the creation of the new millennium  of technology.

After completing his education in university he worked in steel fabricator industry where he experienced firsthand  with the Drafting Technique where drafting as well as design is carried out on the large sheet with the help of pencils, drafters etc. by group of people. 

After then MIKE RIDDLE realized that their is a need of drafting with the help of computers. Therefore to fulfill his thought he started working  in the local computer store where he was able to explore his mind in the field of computer graphics technologies.

Meanwhile, In California John Walker passed out of university completing his BS degree in engineering and started computer business in 1977. And this time Dan Drake who was consultant development manager in manufacturing process in industry
joined John Walker. At that time Mike Riddle discovered a program named interact CAD. Now Mike Riddle become self-employed consultant and make computer graphic programs for the company of John Walker.

Now after few days in 1977 John Walker and Dan Drake invited their friends including Mike Riddle for starting their own software venture. All friends of John Walker were already employed in other firms and they decided to work for new company in their free time. And that time Mike Riddle created 2D drafting software named Micro CAD  gave this software to his fellows for retesting and so we can say that he prelaunch his software (AutoCAD)  in 1977.  

After successful testing and good reviews of fellows of John Walker all the members agreed to start their own company named Auto desk in April 26 1982.And then Mike Riddle changed his software name from MicroCAD to AutoCAD. 

Which means AutoCAD is the combination of two words Auto+CAD

Auto refers to the name of firm named Auto desk and

CAD refers to its features called Computer Aided Drafting or Designing.

Now we can say that AutoCAD is the software tool used for two dimensional designing as well as 

drafting of any product.
